I hope you never need to read this blog. (How strange to be writing something, for once, that I don't want someone to read.)

http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/paintings/vincent-van-gogh-farms-near-auvers
I was at the National Gallery in London on Thursday and I was fascinated by Van Gogh's unfinished picture of the farm near his last home of Auvers. It was painted a month before he died. It struck me that his paintings were a special legacy of the life he had lived.

Now, you know that although I have been dabbling at writing for some time now, there is little chance of a great legacy being left by my fingertips. Unless, of course, I set out to do just that. Just for us.

When I last had a cancer scare after finding some lumps in my breast, I promised myself that if I was to have a life threatening illness, I would write down everything that came to mind that a mother needs to tell her children. Well, why wait until then. I shall start now. You needn't ever read it but at least I'll know that I spoke my mind. And, to top it all, you can't even interrupt me or answer back - Yippeee - true freedom of speech.

I shall add lots of quotes as I come across them. Not to annoy you, although they might, but because other people say things so much better than I do. I've often come across a quote that inspires me. I want you to be inspired too! I want you to seize every moment, both good and bad, and take something special from the experience to move on with. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace; font-size: xx-small;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace; font-size: xx-small;">

In this blog, I shall try and give you my perspective on life, ambition, drink, drugs, sex and rock and roll. Then if you ever find yourself in a pickle, I hope you can come back and read what I would have told you if I had been sitting there with you. Of course, times change and experiences differ but maybe the gist and the values I hold dear will be useful or, at the very least, a source of comfort.. You are both fabulous as you are and I can't wait to see you grow and blossom into successful, confident and above all HAPPY adults.

I love you both dearly.
Here's to years and years of my endless blogging. I hope that I spend years writing it and that you are too old ever to need to to read it.

Love Mum
This link is to a blog written by a teacher who had a pupil who committed suicide. It is very touching and is beautifully written. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/what-fat-women-want/201012/in-memoriumAnniegottagohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14817736292405440740noreply@blogger.com0
